Scooters have gained immense popularity as a convenient mode of transportation for short distances. Proper maintenance plays a crucial role in ensuring your scooter performs well and lasts longer. In this guide, we will walk you through the essential steps to maintain your scooter, covering the folding block, handlebar height adjustment, braking system, and wheel maintenance. By following these tips, you’ll be able to enjoy a smooth and stylish ride.
Maintaining the Folding Block To ensure smooth operation of the folding block, which may become less efficient with age, we recommend using WD-40 Multi Use Product. Locate the latch at the bottom of the handlebars and apply WD-40 using the applicator rod. Spray the product at the base of the latch and into the push button. Then, activate the mechanism multiple times to allow the product to penetrate effectively.
Adjusting the Handlebar Height To maintain the handlebar height adjustment, you’ll find a locking latch on the scooter’s bar. Just like before, use WD-40 Multi Use Product to lubricate the mechanism. Apply a small amount of the product, open and close the latch several times. This process will make the latch more manageable and easier to operate.
Taking Care of the Brake Mechanism Don’t overlook the brake mechanism when maintaining your scooter. For metal scooter brakes, apply a small amount of lubricant to prevent rust and corrosion. WD-40 Multi Use Product can be used for this purpose as well.
Bearing Maintenance If you want to maintain the bearings of your scooter, you’ll need to dismantle the wheels. However, for this step, we advise against using WD-40 Multi Use Product. Instead, opt for a suitable grease for your bearings, such as WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease. Follow the instructions in a video (link provided) to remove and clean the bearings. Once cleaned, apply white lithium grease to lubricate the bearings.
Tightening Nuts and Screws To ensure stability, longevity, and safety, it’s crucial to tighten all the nuts and screws on your scooter. Use a wrench and allen keys of the appropriate size for your scooter. Watch a video (link provided) for a comprehensive demonstration on tightening these components.
