Proper maintenance of a treadmill is crucial for extending its lifespan and ensuring user safety. Neglecting treadmill maintenance can lead to user injuries and a shorter lifespan for the equipment.
Clean the treadmill after each use to maintain its top condition. Wipe the entire machine with a damp cloth, focusing on areas that come into contact with sweat. You may also use a disinfecting spray. Additionally, dust your machine thoroughly every week or two using a vacuum cleaner or duster to prevent dirt and dust from clogging the mechanism. Ensure the surrounding environment is clean and tidy.
Regularly inspect your treadmill for safety. Ensure all screws are in place and tightened if needed. Check the belt alignment and centering (refer to video for guidance). Lastly, confirm the tread tension is appropriate, as explained in step four.
Lubrication is essential for maintaining your treadmill. Unplug the device and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to loosen the mat. Lift the belt and apply a silicone lubricant, such as WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant. using the Double Position Spray. Plug the device back in, run it at a slow speed to distribute the lubricant evenly, and wipe off any excess from the sides. Avoid getting lubricant on the top of the treadmill. Repeat this process every three months.
Proper tension is crucial for both user safety and machine longevity. A belt that is too tight may tear, while one that is too loose may cause the front roller to slip. To adjust tension, use an Allen key to tighten or loosen the bolts located at the rear of the belt, on both the left and right sides.
After applying the adhesive, allow it to harden for five to ten minutes. Begin laying the rubber strip from one corner, gently moving towards the other corner while applying light pressure. Ensure there are no gaps and avoid stretching the rubber. Press down on the entire strip again to secure the rubber firmly to the metal.
Protect the rubber seal from corrosion by applying a silicone lubricant, such as WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant. This product can withstand temperatures from -35°C to +200°C and helps to prevent dust accumulation and moisture damage. Allow the rubber seals to settle for at least an hour before applying the lubricant, using the smart straw to cover corners and seams for deep penetration. This single coat of lubricant can keep the rubber seals soft and firm for an extended period.
